How To Download and Install Missing App World On Your BlackBerry

Hello there! I can imagine a lot of people giving up on getting their BlackBerry App World back on their phones after a series of trials; so I just decided to write a quick tutorial on how to get that done!

First off, I would like to explain what BlackBerry App World is :D! BlackBerry App World (or Blackberry World; as it's now known for) is the storefront of the popular BlackBerry smartphones. By storefront I mean app market; like we have the Ovi Store for Nokia, PlayStore for Android, App Store for iPhone and other related iOS devices etc. 
 
Now, there might be a couple reasons why the BlackBerry App World or BlackBerry World (from now henceforth, the word App World shall be used in place of BlackBerry App World and BlackBerry World) might go AWOL on your device. Some of them include 
<ol>
<li>You where updating your App World and you suddenly lost connection... </li>
<li>You just completed an OS upgrade.</li>
<li>Some other reasons which I have not personally encountered.</li>
</ol>
 
Enough of the plenty talk and let's get you a solution to your problem. If your App World has gone missing, is going missing or would go missing ;) (for any reason whatsoever); here is one of two things you might want to do: 
 
<ol>
<li>Visit <a href="http://www.blackberry.com/appworld/download" target="_blank">this link</a> with your BlackBerry device to download the App World directly to your mobile device. Alternatively, you can</li>
<li>Visit the <a href="http://uk.blackberry.com/apps/blackberry-world/download.html" target="_blank">this other link</a> with your PC, and submit your email address in the box provided, hit submit and a link to download the App World would be sent to your email. This address MUST be integrated with your BlackBerry device.</li>
</ol>
That's all you need! So goodluck getting your App World back on your device. :-) 
 
 To ensure that your BlackBerry smartphone will support BlackBerry World™, it must have the following: 
<ol>
<li>BlackBerry® Device Software v5.0 or higher (Click Options then About or Device > About Device Versions to find your software version). Learn how to update your device software.</li>
</ol>
<ol>
<li>A trackpad, trackball or touch screen.</li>
</ol>

While wonders would never end... Blackberry has recently been adding it's fair share of the wonders to the smartphone community. 
Recently, Blackberry  OS10.2 has added support of Android apps to it's present features. To be honest with you, this came as a surprise to me as it would anybody reading this right now. 
 
The truth be told: Blackberry is only offering support for android apps (usually having the extension .apk) and nothing more. So, no Google Play on Blackberry OS 10.2 yet. 
It does not mean Blackberry 10 is now an Android OS neither does it mean you can find the Android apps you like, or want on the Blackberry App World.

What this means eventually is that if you happen to "be in love" with any of the apps on your friend's Android phone, you would have to 
 
<ol>
<li> source for the apk yourself or</li>
<li> ask your friend to send you the apk.</li>
</ol>
 
 
Blackberry is however taking a proactive measure to ensure that no one holds them liable for any damage. They have attached a disclaimer to every app installation. 
 
So to all Blackberry 10 users, enjoy Android while it lasts.

New Hope For Blackberry As It Gets a Potential Buyer

With Fairfax Financial-led consortium intending to buy out the company, Blackberry, for $4.7 billion the company's fate is finally coming into focus. And I think there is more hope for Blackberry now than there was in the past few years. 
The company announced on Monday that it has signed a letter of intent with a consortium lead by Fairfax Financial. The $4.7 billion buy out is also valued at $9 per share. 
CEO of Fairfax Prem Watsa, a former BlackBerry board member, said that the buyout would make BlackBerry a private company and would “open an exciting new private chapter for BlackBerry, its customers, carriers and employees. ”
BlackBerry says it expects Fairfax to finish conducting its due diligence by November 4th. 
Even though the deal is not yet binding at this point, BlackBerry will still have to pay Fairfax a fee of $0.30 per share if the deal doesn’t happen. 
BlackBerry shares jumped about 3% on on the news, which is a good thing for the company considering it's decline in share values over the months. Blackberry going private doesn't mean they would stop production. Infact, they would continue their operations as usual but their shares would no longer be available to the public!
