Let's see how well you fare :)</span><br /> <ol> <li><span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"><span style="background-color: white;"><span style="color: #494949; line-height: 27px;">Wi-Fi Connections</span> <b style="color: #494949; line-height: 27px;">do not</b><span style="color: #494949;"><span style="line-height: 27px;"> require an access point. <br />Some people think they need to find a router, a public hotspot, or other kind of access point in order to set up Wi-Fi connections.</span></span></span><span style="background-color: white; color: #494949; line-height: 27px;">this is not true! Wi-Fi also supports a connection type called ad hoc mode that allows devices to network in peer-to-peer fashion.<br /></span></span></li> <li><span style="background-color: white; color: #494949; font-family: Verdana, sans-serif; line-height: 27px;">Industry vendors created the first version of Wi-Fi (802.11) back in 1997 (that's some 17 years ago). The market for consumer products exploded starting in 1999 when both 802.11a and 802.11b became official standards.<br /></span></li> <li><span style="background-color: white; color: #494949; font-family: Verdana, sans-serif; line-height: 27px;">Wireless Broadband Routers are also Wi-Fi Access Points. <br />An Access Point (AP) is a type of wireless hub used for coordinating the network traffic of multiple clients.<br />One reason why wireless broadband routers make home networks much easier to build, is that they function as Wi-Fi access points.<br /></span></li> <li><span style="background-color: white; color: #494949; font-family: Verdana, sans-serif; line-height: 27px;">A Wi-Fi network can span many Kilometers, or just a few meters. <br />The typical range of a Wi-Fi network varies depending on the type of obstructions the radio signals encounter between connection endpoints. While 30m or more of range is typical, a Wi-Fi signal may fail to reach even half that distance if heavy obstructions exist on the radio signals' path. Using special Wi-Fi range extender devices, an administrator can extend the reach of their network to overcome these obstructions and expand its range many fold in other directions. A few Wi-Fi networks spanning 275 km and more have even been created by network enthusiasts over the years.<br /></span></li> <li><span style="background-color: white; color: #494949; font-family: Verdana, sans-serif; line-height: 27px;">Wi-Fi connection speed varies with distance.<br />When you join a Wi-Fi network and the access point is nearby, your device will typically connect at its maximum rated speed (e.g., 54 Mbps for most 802.11g connections). Gradually move away from the AP, though, and eventually your reported connection speed will drop to 27 Mbps, 18 Mbps, and lower.</span><span style="background-color: white; color: #494949; font-family: Verdana, sans-serif; line-height: 27px;">A cleverly-designed feature of Wi-Fi called dynamic rate scaling causes this phenomenon. Wi-Fi maintains a reliable connection over longer distances when it transfers data slower, by avoiding flooding the wireless connection with data and subsequent retry requests that happen when one network client starts to fall behind on processing its messages.</span><span style="background-color: white; color: #494949; font-family: Verdana, sans-serif; line-height: 27px;"><br /></span></li> <li><span style="background-color: white; color: #494949; font-family: Verdana, sans-serif; line-height: 27px;">Wi-Fi is not the only form of wireless networking.</span><span style="background-color: white; color: #494949; font-family: Verdana, sans-serif; line-height: 27px;">News articles and social sites sometimes refer to any kind of wireless network as "Wi-Fi." While Wi-Fi is extremely popular, other forms of wireless technology are also in widespread use. Smartphones, for example, commonly use a combination of Wi-Fi together with cellular Internet services based on LTE or older "3G" systems.</span><span style="background-color: white; color: #494949; font-family: Verdana, sans-serif; line-height: 27px;">Bluetooth wireless remains a popular way to connect phones and other mobile devices each other (or to peripherals like headsets) over shorter distances.</span><span style="background-color: white; color: #494949; font-family: Verdana, sans-serif; line-height: 27px;">Home automation systems employ different kinds of short-range wireless radio communications such as Insteon and Z-Wave.</span><span style="background-color: white; color: #494949; font-family: Verdana, sans-serif; line-height: 27px;"><br /></span></li> <li><span style="background-color: white; color: #494949; font-family: Verdana, sans-serif; line-height: 27px;">Some types of Wi-Fi are incompatible with each other.</span><span style="background-color: white; color: #494949; font-family: Verdana, sans-serif; line-height: 27px;">Some believe that any Wi-Fi system can network with any other Wi-Fi system as long as all their security settings match. While it's true that 802.11n,802.11g and 802.11b Wi-Fi standard equipment can all network together, the alternative 802.11a standard does not support cross-compatibility with any of these others. Special Wi-Fi access points that support both 802.11a and 802.11b (or higher) radios must be used to bridge the two. Other compatibility issues also can arise between Wi-Fi products from different vendors if both build their Wi-Fi equipment using non-standard proprietary extensions. Fortunately, compatibility limitations like these are not often found in practice nowadays.<br /><br /></span></li> </ol> <span style="background-color: white; color: #494949; line-height: 27px;"><span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">Well, that's it. How well did you fare in your assessment of how much you knew about the Wi-Fi. I am guessing you did fairly well :).</span></span><br /> <br /> <span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"><span style="background-color: white; color: #494949; line-height: 27px;"><br /></span> </span><br /> <span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"><span style="background-color: white; color: #494949; line-height: 27px;"><a href="http://www.facts.co.vu/" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">Source</a></span></span><br /> <ol> </ol> <br />

Microsoft slashes licensing fees by 70 percent

<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">When Google was busy giving away its software for free, Microsoft was busy charging $50 (N8,280) to vendors for using Windows. How To Download and Install Missing App World On Your BlackBerry

<span style="font-family: inherit;">Hello there! I can imagine a lot of people giving up on getting their BlackBerry App World back on their phones after a series of trials; so I just decided to write a quick tutorial on how to get that done!</span><br /> <span style="font-family: inherit;"><br /></span> <table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody> <tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgrOL-kACy7A4ANzBXZaKG6YSOZawDvY_SgV2DejqFBBtJUmSMLHfbjdrq0i_6tTxjqeS_zWg5Myhg467dfWvHdQS7uxQixQ0enjdcyd63aT0oEs4X_2iW2vqiyUY7tcLQD94QAKoFyEAg/s1600/bb+world.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><span style="font-family: inherit;"><img alt="BlackBerry App World" border="0" height="183" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgrOL-kACy7A4ANzBXZaKG6YSOZawDvY_SgV2DejqFBBtJUmSMLHfbjdrq0i_6tTxjqeS_zWg5Myhg467dfWvHdQS7uxQixQ0enjdcyd63aT0oEs4X_2iW2vqiyUY7tcLQD94QAKoFyEAg/s1600/bb+world.png" title="BlackBerry App World" width="200" /></span></a></td></tr> <tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;"><a href="http://uk.blackberry.com/" target="_blank"><span style="font-family: inherit; font-size: small;">Image Source</span></a></td></tr> </tbody></table> <span style="font-family: inherit;"><br /></span> <span style="font-family: inherit;"><br /></span> <span style="font-family: inherit;">First off, I would like to explain what BlackBerry App World is :D! BlackBerry App World (or Blackberry World; as it's <b>now</b> known for) is the storefront of the popular BlackBerry smartphones. By storefront I mean app market; like we have the Ovi Store for Nokia, PlayStore for Android, App Store for iPhone and other related iOS devices etc.</span><br /> <span style="font-family: inherit;"><br /></span> <span style="font-family: inherit;">Now, there might be a couple reasons why the BlackBerry App World or BlackBerry World (from now henceforth, the word App World shall be used in place of BlackBerry App World and BlackBerry World) might go AWOL on your device. Some of them include</span><br /> <ol> <li><span style="font-family: inherit;">You where updating your App World and you suddenly lost connection... <br /> </span></li> <li><span style="font-family: inherit;">You just completed an OS upgrade.</span></li> <li><span style="font-family: inherit;">Some other reasons which I have not personally encountered.</span></li> </ol> <span style="font-family: inherit;"><br /></span> <span style="font-family: inherit;">Enough of the plenty talk and let's get you a solution to your problem. If your App World has gone missing, is going missing or would go missing ;) (for any reason whatsoever); here is one of two things you might want to do:</span><br /> <span style="font-family: inherit;"><br /></span> <ol> <li><span style="font-family: inherit;">Visit <a href="http://www.blackberry.com/appworld/download" target="_blank">this link</a> with your BlackBerry device to download the App World directly to your mobile device. Alternatively, you can</span></li> <li><span style="font-family: inherit;">Visit the <a href="http://uk.blackberry.com/apps/blackberry-world/download.html" target="_blank">this other link</a> with your PC, and submit your email address in the box provided, hit submit and a link to download the App World would be sent to your email. This address <u><b><span style="color: yellow;">MUST</span></b></u> be integrated with your BlackBerry device.</span></li> </ol> <span style="font-family: inherit;">That's all you need! So goodluck getting your App World back on your device. :-)</span><br /> <span style="font-family: inherit;"><br /> <br /><u>To ensure that your BlackBerry smartphone will support BlackBerry World™, it must have the following:</u></span><br /> <ol> <li><span style="font-family: inherit;">BlackBerry® Device Software v5.0 or higher (Click Options then About or Device > About Device Versions to find your software version). Learn how to update your device software.</span></li> </ol> <ol> <li><span style="font-family: inherit;">A trackpad, trackball or touch screen.</span></li> </ol> <span style="font-family: inherit;"><br />Don't forget to share this with your friends!<br />Also, like our <a href="http://www.facebook.com/daechuzzy" target="_blank">Facebook</a> page and follow me on <a href="http://www.twitter.com/danchuzzy" target="_blank">Twitter</a> for more updates!</span><br /> <span style="font-family: inherit;"><br /></span> <br />

Blackberry Set To Allow Users Install Android Apps

While wonders would never end... Blackberry has recently been adding it's fair share of the wonders to the smartphone community.<br /> Recently, Blackberry  OS10.2 has added support of Android apps to it's present features. To be honest with you, this came as a surprise to me as it would anybody reading this right now.<br /> <br /> The truth be told: Blackberry is only offering support for android apps (usually having the extension <b><span style="font-size: large;">.apk</span></b>) and nothing more. So, no Google Play on Blackberry OS 10.2 yet.<br /> It does not mean Blackberry 10 is now an Android OS neither does it mean you can find the Android apps you like, or want on the Blackberry App World.<br /> <br /> <table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody> <tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="http://cdn.liliputing.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/11/netflix-bb-10.2.1.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" height="361" src="http://cdn.liliputing.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/11/netflix-bb-10.2.1.jpg" width="400" /></a></td></tr> <tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;"><h2> <span style="font-size: x-small;">Image Source: <a href="http://liliputing.com/">http://liliputing.com</a></span></h2> </td></tr> </tbody></table> <br /> <br /> What this means eventually is that if you happen to "be in love" with any of the apps on your friend's Android phone, you would have to<br /> <br /> <ol> <li> source for the apk yourself or</li> <li> ask your friend to send you the apk.</li> </ol> <br /> <br /> Blackberry is however taking a proactive measure to ensure that no one holds them liable for any damage. They have attached a disclaimer to every app installation.<br /> <br /> So to all Blackberry 10 users, enjoy Android while it lasts.<br /> <br /> Source: <a href="http://liliputing.com/2013/11/blackberry-os-10-2-1-may-let-users-install-android-apk-files.html" target="_blank">Liliputing</a> and <a href="http://n4bb.com/install-android-app-apks-directly-blackberry-10-2-1/" target="_blank">N4BB</a>.<br /> <br /> Follow us on <a href="http://wwww.twitter.com/danchuzzy" target="_blank">Twitter</a> and like our page on <a href="http://www.facebook.com/daechuzzy" target="_blank">Facebook</a> for more news, updates and reviews.

Samsung Galaxy S5 To Come With 64-bit Processor

<p>Samsung had previously made it clear that soon after the announcement of the iPhone 5S, it's next smartphone would have a 64-bit functionality. </p> <p>This might not be far from reality considering the fact that the 64-bit CPU currently on the iPhone was made by Samsung. The South Korean manufacturers (Samsung) continue to be the Cupertino giant's (Apple's) go to source for processors and CPUs. </p> <p>Well, Android (which is the power house behind all of Samsung's Galaxy devices) has had the ability to work with 64-bit CPUs for a long time now. And according to Korean media, Samsung is into the final stages of development of its 64-bit processor and the company’s next flagship (who else than the Samsung Galaxy S5?) would <u>be</u> powered by such a CPU. </p> <div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"> <a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhuqafqG98ZGPE3rGrHd3W3-QUcMNTwyHA6pDcuzhUGVJKS8l-LniYjr7aqXfr4UxXXyjZtv99rYZER2-HJ7AnAddnJbymlqvRORwAA5_sEWSVE9aRNV-vIiU8TQFvHlGZVwXtM7Pc128o/s1600/Samsung%252520.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"> <img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhuqafqG98ZGPE3rGrHd3W3-QUcMNTwyHA6pDcuzhUGVJKS8l-LniYjr7aqXfr4UxXXyjZtv99rYZER2-HJ7AnAddnJbymlqvRORwAA5_sEWSVE9aRNV-vIiU8TQFvHlGZVwXtM7Pc128o/s640/Samsung%252520.jpg"> </a> </div> <p>Well, it only gets better as Samsung will, in a completely logical move, also put the new tech at work inside some of its tablets.</p> <p>For your information, the move to a 64-bit architecture has the following advantages:</p> <p>==> manufacturers to increase the RAM (more than 4GB) memory of their devices.</p> <p>==> the 64-bit architecture has 31 registers, each 64-bits wide, which can be accessed at all times, potentially leading, to a 10% increase in performance .</p> <p>==> advanced features are also other reasons why the 64-bit CPUs coming to Android looks promising. </p> <p>Like our <a href="http://www.facebook.com/daechuzzy">Facebook</a> page and follow us on <a href="http://www.twitter.com/danchuzzy">Twitter</a> to get similar updates and guides. </p>

And I think there is more hope for Blackberry now than there was in the past few years. </p> <p>The company announced on Monday that it has signed a letter of intent with a consortium lead by Fairfax Financial. The $4.7 billion buy out is also valued at $9 per share. </p> <p>CEO of Fairfax Prem Watsa, a former BlackBerry board member, said that the buyout would make BlackBerry a private company and would “open an exciting new private chapter for BlackBerry, its customers, carriers and employees. ”</p> <p>BlackBerry says it expects Fairfax to finish conducting its due diligence by November 4th. <br> Even though the deal is not yet binding at this point, BlackBerry will still have to pay Fairfax a fee of $0.30 per share if the deal doesn’t happen. <br> BlackBerry shares jumped about 3% on on the news, which is a good thing for the company considering it's decline in share values over the months.</p> <p><b>Blackberry going private doesn't mean they would stop production. How To Disable Apps' Access to Mobile Data in The New iOS 7.

<p>Recently, iOS 7 was launched by Apple Inc. and packed with the new and fancy features, is a new look given to the iOS 7.</p> <p>The old shiny, sparkling and lively user interface of the previous iOS versions have been replaced by a simple, flat and somewhat colorful iOS 7. </p> <p>That being said, the new iOS 7 also includes a number of new hidden features that have been hidden from the average user, one of which is the <b>background app refresh</b>.</p> <p>You can actually stop apps that you've allowed to refresh in the background from consuming your precious mobile data (MB). </p> <p><b>Reasons why you might want to stop</b> these apps from accessing your mobile data include:</p> <p>1) You don't have an active mobile data plan yet. </p> <p>2) Maybe you do have a mobile data plan, but it's not unlimited. </p> <p>If your apps are data-suckers (which is the case for many iOS apps that need an active internet connection), then it won't take long before you are out of your monthly allotment. Turning off access to mobile data would surely help you reduce costs.</p> <p>To do turn off apps access to mobile data, simply:</p> <p>1) Launch your <b>Settings</b><b> app. </b></p> <p>2) Navigate to <b>Cellular</b> </p> <p>3) <b>Scroll down</b> to where you see a section titled; <b>Use Cellular Data For:</b> (you should now see a list of apps with <i>toggle switches</i> next to each one. <br> <div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"> <a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEimn8gauNGETNFv6ihXkcSFMYpN3KEViUILr-tM1jC7vC31xPX2UTSUiQ63XSvnKuWvg4cs9Zf9m4KL4iJ80Zlx3bq-2pJYIkxSwl_KcoBK8CZe87Mn3p0eJmDyv8FJJAhNQxOeyTJJofg/s1600/Disable%252520Apps%252527%252520Data%252520Access.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"> <img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEimn8gauNGETNFv6ihXkcSFMYpN3KEViUILr-tM1jC7vC31xPX2UTSUiQ63XSvnKuWvg4cs9Zf9m4KL4iJ80Zlx3bq-2pJYIkxSwl_KcoBK8CZe87Mn3p0eJmDyv8FJJAhNQxOeyTJJofg/s640/Disable%252520Apps%252527%252520Data%252520Access.jpg"> </a> </div> <br></p> <p>4) Turn off any of the apps that you want to stop from using your mobile data.
