Blackberry Set To Allow Users Install Android Apps

While wonders would never end... Blackberry has recently been adding it's fair share of the wonders to the smartphone community.<br />
Recently, Blackberry  OS10.2 has added support of Android apps to it's present features. To be honest with you, this came as a surprise to me as it would anybody reading this right now.<br />
<br />
The truth be told: Blackberry is only offering support for android apps (usually having the extension <b><span style="font-size: large;">.apk</span></b>) and nothing more. So, no Google Play on Blackberry OS 10.2 yet.<br />
It does not mean Blackberry 10 is now an Android OS neither does it mean you can find the Android apps you like, or want on the Blackberry App World.<br />

What this means eventually is that if you happen to "be in love" with any of the apps on your friend's Android phone, you would have to<br />

<li> ask your friend to send you the apk.</li>
</ol>

Blackberry is however taking a proactive measure to ensure that no one holds them liable for any damage. They have attached a disclaimer to every app installation.<br />

A new BBM for android application has been released for beta testing reports the Canadian phone company. Crackberry also claims that the new BBM has been released to only a select few beta test users.</div>

This is a highly welcome development for BBM for Android enthusiasts as their iOS counterparts are already enjoying the thrills of the BBM for iPhone. In this new version, Blackberry claims to have fixed most of the existent bugs from the previous versionand is now available to be tested.</div>

While this is a welcome development, the majority of users will still have to wait, this new beta 
release is a sign that the BBM developer’ team are working for give a stable and 
final solution for all Android-based device regarding with the new BBM 
application for Android.<br />

The new beta application comes with a few changes, improvements and normal bug 
fixes. In addition,  it brings with some tweaks and visual changes. There is a new welcome screen and an option to disable the persistent notification in the 
status bar is also available. Moreover, the UI graphical has received some major improvements.<br />
<br />

As expected the Canadian company has made no mention of when exactly the new BBM 
application for Android will be released for all users, but we think that it wouldn’t take much time to complete the tests with this actual beta

<p>As is the always the case with the release of mobile devices, there has been a bunch lot of debates about what Nokia would call their tablet line, with some people thinking a new designation would be used instead of Lumia.</p>
<p>Giving the same names to tablets and smartphones seems odd quite alright; but  then again Microsoft has hinted and many analysts have also commented that Microsoft will combine RT and Windows Phone in the future.</p>
<p>This, perhaps, might be the first attempt at that planned naming style (giving the same name to tablets and smartphones.</p>
<p>It would be noteworthy to remember that Microsoft will own the Lumia brand, so perhaps this seemingly last minute decision was made in conjunction with their future owners.</p>

<p>The Lumia 2520 is expected to be announced at the October 22nd event by Nokia. <br>
Not much has been said about this tablet but it seems it would feature 2.15 GHz Quad-core Qualcomm 8974 (ARM) processor and sport 10.1-inch 1920 x 1080 IPS display.</p>
<p>It will weigh in a 1.3 pounds (about 590 grams), have LTE and a ZEISS 6.7 MP camera. Priced at $499 (about N79,000) the tablet will run Windows 8.1 RT.</p>

<p>Samsung had previously made it clear that soon after the announcement of the iPhone 5S, it's next smartphone would have a 64-bit functionality. </p>
<p>This might not be far from reality considering the fact that the 64-bit CPU currently on the iPhone was made by Samsung. The South Korean manufacturers (Samsung) continue to be the Cupertino giant's (Apple's) go to source for processors and CPUs. </p>
<p>Well, Android (which is the power house behind all of Samsung's Galaxy devices) has had the ability to work with 64-bit CPUs for a long time now. And according to Korean media, Samsung is into the final stages of development of its 64-bit processor and the company’s next flagship (who else than the Samsung Galaxy S5?) would <u>be</u> powered by such a CPU. </p>

<p>Well, it only gets better as Samsung will, in a completely logical move, also put the new tech at work inside some of its tablets.</p>
<p>For your information, the move to a 64-bit architecture has the following advantages:</p>
<p>==> manufacturers to increase the RAM (more than 4GB) memory of their devices.</p>
<p>==> the 64-bit architecture has 31 registers, each 64-bits wide, which can be accessed at all times, potentially leading, to a 10% increase in performance .</p>
<p>==> advanced features are also other reasons why the 64-bit CPUs coming to Android looks promising. </p>

New Hope For Blackberry As It Gets a Potential Buyer

<p>With Fairfax Financial-led consortium intending to buy out the company, Blackberry, for $4.7 billion the company's fate is finally coming into focus. And I think there is more hope for Blackberry now than there was in the past few years. </p>
<p>The company announced on Monday that it has signed a letter of intent with a consortium lead by Fairfax Financial. The $4.7 billion buy out is also valued at $9 per share. </p>
<p>CEO of Fairfax Prem Watsa, a former BlackBerry board member, said that the buyout would make BlackBerry a private company and would “open an exciting new private chapter for BlackBerry, its customers, carriers and employees. ”</p>
<p>BlackBerry says it expects Fairfax to finish conducting its due diligence by November 4th. <br>
Even though the deal is not yet binding at this point, BlackBerry will still have to pay Fairfax a fee of $0.30 per share if the deal doesn’t happen. <br>
BlackBerry shares jumped about 3% on on the news, which is a good thing for the company considering it's decline in share values over the months.</p> <p><b>Blackberry going private doesn't mean they would stop production. Infact, they would continue their operations as usual but their shares would no longer be available to the public!</b></p>

How To Disable Apps' Access to Mobile Data in The New iOS 7.

<p>Recently, iOS 7 was launched by Apple Inc. and packed with the new and fancy features, is a new look given to the iOS 7.</p>
<p>The old shiny, sparkling and lively user interface of the previous iOS versions have been replaced by a simple, flat and somewhat colorful iOS 7. </p>
<p>That being said, the new iOS 7 also includes a number of new hidden features that have been hidden from the average user, one of which is the <b>background app refresh</b>.</p>
<p>You can actually stop apps that you've allowed to refresh in the background from consuming your precious mobile data (MB). </p>
<p><b>Reasons why you might want to stop</b> these apps from accessing your mobile data include:</p>
<p>1) You don't have an active mobile data plan yet. </p>
<p>2) Maybe you do have a mobile data plan, but it's not unlimited. </p>
<p>If your apps are data-suckers (which is the case for many iOS apps that need an active internet connection), then it won't take long before you are out of your monthly allotment. Turning off access to mobile data would surely help you reduce costs.</p>
<p>To do turn off apps access to mobile data, simply:</p>
<p>1) Launch your <b>Settings</b><b> app. </b></p>
<p>2) Navigate to <b>Cellular</b> </p>
<p>3) <b>Scroll down</b> to where you see a section titled; <b>Use Cellular Data For:</b> (you should now see a list of apps with <i>toggle switches</i> next to each one. <br>

<p>4) Turn off any of the apps that you want to stop from using your mobile data. You can do this by clicking in the toggle switch beside the app. </p>
<p><b>Additional Tip</b><br>
To find out how and which if your apps are suckling your data the most, go to the same app list in step 3 above.<br>
You'll  see “KB” or “MB” next to a number (under the app name) next to it. That is how much of your mobile data in Kilobytes (or Megabytes as the case may be) <br>
that app has used.</p>

<p>A source at the version's Facebook page gives us an idea of when to expect the update. </p>
<p>The release date for the Android 4.4 KitKat update has been scheduled for October. This came from those in control of the KitKat social media page on Facebook.</p>
<p>Earlier this month, Google announced that it would be release a new Android update to succeed Android 4.3 Jelly Bean.</p>
<p>Instead of Android 5.0 Key Lime Pie, the company announced Android 4.4 KitKat, one of the few softwares that whole official, has no piece of information regarding its specs. <br>
However, we do know that the update is a partnership with Nestle (USA) and it's candy, the KitKat bar. </p>

<p>Android 4.4 KitKat will hopefully be coming in October. <br>
Whoever is behind the KitKat Facebook page in Germany has suggested that the Android 4.4 KitKat update will be made available at some point in October.</p>
<p>The account confirms this to be the case multiple times and it even references Android 4.4.<br>
The person behind this account most likely has some official information that, from the look of things, isn't meant to be a secret, or they could simply be going off of rumors that suggest that a Nexus 5 will be released alongside Android 4.4 KitKat in October. </p>

<p>Little or nothing else is known about the Android 4.4 KitKat update though rumors suggest that it could bring <b>updates for older devices</b>, <b>fragmentation changes including screen resizing</b>, <b>Miracle updates</b>, <b>color changes and new notification widgets</b>.</p>

<p>After <a href="http://www.daechuzzy.com/2013/09/working-bbm-for-android-with-download.html">leaks of the BBM app apk</a> yesterday, Blackberry have announced the suspension of the big rollout of BBM for Android. </p>
<p>In case you don't know,  the app which was supposed to be launched for Android (by 12noon Nigerian time) on the Google Playstore didn't show up. <br>
While it's counterpart BBM for iOS was released in some countries, it's rollout will also be suspended! </p>
<p>The reason for the suspension is that more than 1.1 million users have already downloaded the leaked app causing some instabilities and hence a halt in the launch of the app. </p>
<p>BlackBerry claimed to have been working all day to fix the problems caused by the leak but to no avail. </p>
<p>Those who have already downloaded the iOS app would still be able to use it but the <b>Android app would be suspended.</b> Too bad:(... </p>
<p>However, Blackberry now plans to stage a <i>staggered country rollout for BBM on Android</i> and do a fresh rollout for iOS. </p>
<p>The company has also remained silent concerning the date of this new <i>staggered rollout</i>. </p>
<p>BBM for iOS and Android was announced back in May at the BlackBerry Live conference, and the company had committed to a launch before the end of this summer.<br>
Thanks to the leaked apk, the set time frame no longer seems  attainable. </p>

The wait is over. The official BBM for Android is now working but unfortunately is not yet available on the Google Play Store. <br />
A number of links gave been springing up here and there but I noticed that most of them have been taken down due to excessive traffic from anxious Android users. <br />
