Microsoft slashes licensing fees by 70 percent

When Google was busy giving away its software for free, Microsoft was busy charging $50 (N8,280) to vendors for using Windows. I presume that is the major reason why an average Windows tablet cost more than an equivalent Android tablet. And this same reason makes it difficult for end users and consumers alike to see a cheap, basic Windows tablet.

Microsoft has currently decided to up their game, battling it out with Android and probably Chromebook by reducing their license fee by 70 percent for devices that cost less than $250 (N41,400). This drops the licence fee for this range of devices to $15 (N2500). 
 
This price slash Engadget is to allow builders <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2014/02/21/microsoft-is-cutting-windows-pricing/?utm_source=Feed_Classic_Full&utm_medium=feed&utm_campaign=Engadget&?ncid=rss_full" target="_blank">offer cheaper Windows tablets</a> that would compete favorably with the equivalent low end Android tablets and Chromebooks! 
 
So, the next time you see a Windows tablet worth $175 (N28,980). 
 
I hope this move works as well as it worked for them when they used the same trick to battle out Linux with Windows XP.

Samsung's mobile chat/messaging application, ChatON, has now reached 100 million users. the app was launched in October 2011, had just 50 million users as at May, 2013 and four months after have doubled their subscription base. This is a phenomenal growth t say the least.</div>

The ChatON is becoming more popular and hopes to increase the it's reach in the Middle-East and Europe (God knows when the'd be reaching out to Africa).</div>

Samsung had previously made it clear that soon after the announcement of the iPhone 5S, it's next smartphone would have a 64-bit functionality. 
This might not be far from reality considering the fact that the 64-bit CPU currently on the iPhone was made by Samsung. The South Korean manufacturers (Samsung) continue to be the Cupertino giant's (Apple's) go to source for processors and CPUs. 
Well, Android (which is the power house behind all of Samsung's Galaxy devices) has had the ability to work with 64-bit CPUs for a long time now. And according to Korean media, Samsung is into the final stages of development of its 64-bit processor and the company’s next flagship (who else than the Samsung Galaxy S5?) would be powered by such a CPU.

Well, it only gets better as Samsung will, in a completely logical move, also put the new tech at work inside some of its tablets.
For your information, the move to a 64-bit architecture has the following advantages:
==> manufacturers to increase the RAM (more than 4GB) memory of their devices.
==> the 64-bit architecture has 31 registers, each 64-bits wide, which can be accessed at all times, potentially leading, to a 10% increase in performance .
==> advanced features are also other reasons why the 64-bit CPUs coming to Android looks promising.

The wait is over. The official BBM for Android is now working but unfortunately is not yet available on the Google Play Store. 
A number of links gave been springing up here and there but I noticed that most of them have been taken down due to excessive traffic from anxious Android users.

Also, if you are skeptical about upgrading, you might as well be on track. A couple of reasons would be:
1)  the fact that it's impossible to downgrade to iOS 6.
2) that as of this very moment, there's no jailbreak in for the iOS 7 yet. 
3) some apps might not function as expected due to the OS change.  Which means iOS app developers might have to tweak their apps to suit Apple's iOS 7's demands.

Just like everything that has pretty good features, there might be one, two or three annoying features. Some of the annoying things include:

I know so many people are not aware they can actually share android apps with their friends without visiting the playstore. That's what I intend covering in today's article! 
Okay, so you have an application on your Android device and it's so cool that you just can't bring yourself to stop talking about it.
Now you don’t stop there, you actually go ahead to tell your friends and colleagues about this 'so cool' application. 
Great! You've told them about the app and they've asked you, 'how do I get this app'? You start telling them to 'Google it'! 
Really? Is there no better way to share this really awesome android app you've got with your friends without necessarily having to Google it or visit the Google Playstore? 
Well, I've got some pretty good news for you. You can! 
Ya, if you remember the glory days of Symbian, those days are here again but this time on Android! 
You can do the same very same thing on Android and with much more ease. All you need to do is:
1) <a href="https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.yschi.MyAppSharer&hl=en&referrer=utm_source%3Dgoogle%26utm_medium%3Dorganic%26utm_term%3Dmyappsharer">Download and install</a> the MyAppSharer from the Google Playstore. 
2) Open the My App Sharer on your phone, select the type of app file you want to share (apk or download link) from the top of the app. In this case we are interested in the apk. 
So, select apk.

3) Scroll through the list of applications available on your device, select the one you want to share. You can also select as many apps as possible to share. 
4) Then click on Share at the top right corner of the app' s interface.

Yesterday, the 16th of September, there was a leak of the BBM for Android. The leak contained screen shots of the app and links to the application's apk download page. 
But before I could lay my hands on the apk, it had already been taken down by Blackberry. 
I know they've got reasons for doing that, though I wonder how the leak came out. 
The leak was on the <a href="http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2446528">XDA developers</a> forum which provided a download link to <a href="http://www.mediafire.com/download/fo8sdg8axt3a5oq/com.bbm.apk">Media Fire</a>. Like I said before, the file has been taken down. 
I did some research later on and accidentally stumbled on a site with an active download link. 
Well, just in case you want to see what the BBM app looks like, I have a provided a link below this post which has the BBM apk download embedded within. 
You might want to note two things though:
1) The application is pretty much useless and I think it's because Blackberry has not officially launched it. They might need to fire up their Blackberry servers to support Android devices or other technical stuffs dey need to do. 
2) The application might not work on an Android OS below Ice Cream Sandwich. So if you own a device with Honeycomb OS or lower, you might as well not bother wasting your precious data to download the apk file.
